Chapter 1. Despondency of Arjuna: Verse 6
सौभद्रो द्रौपदेयाश्च सर्व एव महारथा: ||
saubhadro draupadeyaashcha sarva eva mahaa-rathah
Commentary & Explanation
The powerful Yudhamanyu, the valiant Vttamaujas, Abhimanyu the son of Subhadra, And the sons of Draupadi (Shrutavindhya, Sutasoma, Shrutakeerti, Shataaneeka, Shrutakarma) all are great commanders (of 11,000 soldiers)
Yudhamanyu & Uttamaujas were two brothers from the Kingdom of Panchala. They assisted Arjuna in the war, their primary work was to protect Arjuna's chariot and wheels from destruction. They were killed by Ashwathama in the night after the war was won by the Pandavas. Yudhamanyu symbolizes the spirit of spiritual fight. Uttamaujas symbolizes the power attained by controlling sexual fluids.
Abhimanyu was the son of Subhadra(sister of Krishna) & Arjuna, He was one of the rare warriors who knew how to break into Chakra Vyuha(Lotus formation), he was so powerful that he fought simultaneous with numerous great warriors, they finally ganged up on him and killed him. Name Abhimanyu means He whose mind is internalized, Abhimanyu symbolizes inward-control. Saubhadra also means a splendid and glorious one.
Shrutavindhya, Sutasoma, Shrutakeerti, Shataaneeka, Shrutakarma were the sons of Draupadi.
- Shrutavindhya(Related to the Buddhi) was the son of Yudhisthira.
- Sutasoma(one who has extracted soma) was the son of Bhima.
- Shrutakeerti(He whose fame is well known) was the son of Arjuna.
- Shatanika(he who has hundred troops) was the son of Nakula.
- Shrutakarma(he whose actions are well known) was the son of Sahadeva.
