Sanskrit Verse


काश्यश्च परमेष्वास: शिखण्डी च महारथ: |
धृष्टद्युम्नो विराटश्च सात्यकिश्चापराजित: ||

Transliteration


Kaashyashcha parameshvaasah Shikhandee cha Mahaa-rathah
dhrishtadyumno viraatashcha saatyakishchaaparaajitah

English Translation


King of Kashi- an excellent archer, also Shikhandi- a great warrior
Dhrishtadyumna, Virata & unconquerable Satyaki

Commentary & Explanation

The other Pandava leaders like KashiRaja, Shikhandi, Dhrishtadhyumna, Virata and Satyaki blew their respective conches.

Shikhandi was the son of King Drupada, he was born as a girl Shikhandin, but later transformed into a man. Shikhandi was princess Amba in the previous life, Amba was captured by Bhishma but she had loved someone else, she neither gets him nor Bhishma, when other warriors could not avenge the injustice done to her by Bhishma, she takes severe penance to avenge her injustice herself and takes birth as Shikhandi who later becomes the reason for Bhishma's death.
