Sanskrit Verse


तत: शङ्खाश्च भेर्यश्च पणवानकगोमुखा: |
सहसैवाभ्यहन्यन्त स शदस्तुमुलोऽभवत् ||

Transliteration


Tatah shankhaashcha bheryashcha panavaanaka-gomukhaah
sahasaiva-abhyahanyanta sah shabdas-tumulo-abhavat

English Translation


Thereafter Conches, Bugles, Trumpets-Drums, Horns were sounded together creating a tumultuous sound

Commentary & Explanation

Seeing(hearing) Bhishma making Lion's roar thus encouraged Kauravas started sounding their respective Conches, Bugles, Trumpets, Drums & Horns making ferocious noise.

Here the sounds created by the Kauravas is described as horrific. A fearful and aggressive mind is naturally inclined towards violence. Kauravas were also the first to start call of war, indicating their impatience.
